Sorry, We've Moved...

New apartment, same adorable city!

Thomas has moved here to Bayonne to be with me while I teach. This means that we had to find an apartment and I had to leave my tiny dorm at the high school. Finding an apartment in France is a very frustrating experience. We were never put as a priority due to my salary, Thomas' temporary unemployment and the incredibly short duration of our stay (just until May). After 2 months, by some miracle, a realtor showed us the perfect apartment and when we expressed our immediate desire to sign she decided to not to show the apartment to other applicants and let us sign!

We have been living in our beautiful little apartment for a month and a half now and continue to be unbelievably grateful for the opportunity our realtor gave us. It's located just on the edge of the pedestrian only downtown, beside the wall of the old fort that used to protect the city. We've got those cute red wooden shutters and a view of the cathedral too! I've added some photos below of our place.

We also hosted our first visitor just two weeks ago! My friend CeCe came to visit us for her last stop in her solo trip around Europe. I picked her up in Bilbao and we traveled through San Sébastien on our way back North to Bayonne! She has created a blog while she was traveling to showcase different travelers she met sur la route (including me!). You can check it out here. Hopefully, she will be back in Europe in April to Au Pair with a family in Germany! It was absolutely wonderful to have a friend from home to show around Southwest France and I can't wait for the next visitors.
